Psychology Archipelago

About Me

My name is Gordon Li. I am a Ironman 70.3 race finisher, USCF 2000-rated chess "expert," and co-founder of the Japan Cultural Exchange of New York (JCXNY). After years of volunteering for minorities and studying abroad in Japan, I co-founded JCXNY with the hope to bridge the divide between Japanese and American cultures, and help people find a community.

I believe that the field of psychology is like an archipelago that can offer insights into our biases, our weaknesses, and our strengths. Archipelago Psychology attempts to connect the islands and sort the jungle that can be human psychology. By doing so, I hope to tackle some of the most complex issues today with a new perspective, particularly bringing my background as a second-generation Asian American.

This project is ultimately an outlet for ideas that I find interesting, or issues I find problematic. I hope to find myself through writing; I believe that writing is a form of thinking, and by sharing these thoughts, I hope for people to find interesting ideas, new perspectives, and that they are not alone.
